The CFB Playoff Update
Round II was a lot more interesting than round I – this sets up a great Final Four.
1. Miami 24 – Ohio St. 14 – This was going to be a low scoring game. Miami does not have a high scoring offense but their defense is their strength & Mario Cristobal plays to that strength. They play PHYSICAL football. Ohio State’s Offense was very disappointing, only 14 points. Their QB struggled vs pressure.
2. Oregon 23 – Tex Tech 0 – Your Defense getting a goose egg in The CFB Playoffs is shocking. The Ducks play PHYSICAL football but their offense struggled mightily vs The Red Raider D but you don’t have to score much when your Defense pitches a shutout. The Ducks not only had a shutout, they had a +3 Turnover Margin
3. Ole Miss 39 – UGA 34 – A huge upset for the Rebels of Ole Miss. Kirby Smart will have some sleepless nights after this loss. Going for a 4th Down late in the 4th Quarter deep in your own territory is a video game decision that was very costly. Secondly, his Defense went for a Double Move & let a WR get behind them for Winning FG. Thirdly, Kirby had no answer for the scrambling of Trinidad Chambliss.
4. Indiana 38 – Bama 3 – Bama spent the night in the woodshed – what an ass kicking! Indiana’s Offense & Defense Lines dominated the game. Mendoza played like a Heisman Trophy winner- he is smart, great passer & a better runner than opponents think. I haven’t seen a more complete Win in a long time.
Final Four
1. Ole Miss vs Miami – If The Canes keep it a grinding, gutty, low scoring game. The Canes want to play a ball control game & hand the ball to Fletcher 25 times. Carson Beck has to make some timely completions. The biggest thing Miami’s D must do is SPY & CONTAIN Trinidad Chambliss. Ole Miss has to score early to make Miami play catch up. The Rebs must make Big plays – Sustained drives are not the formula to beat The U
2. Indiana vs Oregon – This has all the ingredients to be a memorable game. Two outstanding defenses vs 2 outstanding Quarterbacks. Fernando Mendoza & Dante Moore are probably the 2 best QBs in CFB. I think The Hoosiers WRs are underrated & could be the difference. Though both teams are physical, Indiana may be the most physical team in the playoffs. This will be a great game.
