My Take on Round 2 of The Playoffs and Meaningful Stats

Here’s my take on Round #2 of the College Football Playoffs

  1. Penn St. 31  Boise St. 14 – Penn St used a swarming Defense & a sledgehammer offense to advance in the CFB Playoffs. The Lions shutdown Ashton Jeanty, the most prolific RB in CFB which put the game on the BSU pass game which could only produce 14 pts. PSU got 3 Meaningful Stats – they scored 25+ (31), they held BSU to less than 16 pts. (14) & had a +2 Turnover Margin (+3) A Big Win for James Franklin & the Nittany Lions.
  2. Texas 39  Arizona St. 31 (2 OT) – Texas blew a 16 point lead in the 4th Quarter but regrouped to Win in the second OT.  Texas also missed 2 chip shot Field Goals in the 4th Quarter that would have won the game. ASU had a great comeback led by RB Cam Scatteboo & QB Sam Leavitt. The Meaningful Stat Game was won by The Horns. Neither team  made the 25+ Points target in regulation time (24). The only edge in Meaningful Stat was UT scored a Non-Offensive Touchdown on Silas Bolden’s 75 yd. Punt Return. UT struggled running the ball which hindered their ability to kill the clock.
  3. Ohio State 41 Oregon 21 – Ohio State got its revenge vs Oregon in the Rose Bowl with a 41- 21 beat down. OSU lost to The Ducks in their first meeting this year by 1. This game was over by halftime when the Buckeyes took a commanding 34-8 lead to the locker room. Frosh sensation Jerimiah Smith was unstoppable. Chip Kelly was diabolical in his play calling. The Bucks won the Meaningful Stat Game – getting scoring 25+ points (41) there were no turnovers or non offensive TDs.
  4. Notre Dame 23 UGA 10  Notre Dame’s Defense shut down UGA’s Offense & their Special Teams was a big factor in the Irish upset over The Dawgs. Offensively QB Riley Leonard provided the leadership & the clutch plays to score enough to get the W. ND won the Meaningful Stat Game. The got a Non Offensive TD (98 yd KOR) held UGA to less-16 (10) & had a + 2 Turnover Margin
