The key to offensive success is how to practice so you can execute in your sleep. One of my Mottos is “Practice is Sacred” In practice you develop “Habits of Excellence” . I devote a lot of space in the book to developing a great practice plan. Here are some Practice Tips from my book.

Practice Tips to help make practice more productive:

1. Always be on the practice field waiting for your players.
2. Hustle to set the example
3. Enthusiasm is caught not taught.
4. You get what you demand not what you wish for.
5. Stick to the schedule don’t improvise.
6. No on field clinics or oratory. Repetitions are the best teacher. Keep drills moving and never have players standing around.
7. Correction is important but so is encouragement.
8. Never skimp on water, make sure your group is well hydrated.
9. Always praise effort and hustle.
10. Deal in the details of discipline. Discipline leads to consistency
11. When your group is competing against another group, make sure you praise players in the other group if they make a good play.
12. Teach players how to practice. There is no excuse for a bad practice.
13. Every coach is responsible for the enthusiasm of his group.
14. Reward the behavior you want and punish the behavior you don’t want
15. Never let a mistake go uncorrected
16. Always visit the locker room after practice. If you’ve been hard on a guy during practice, make sure you see him after practice.
