The Stud Option. The Stud Option blocks the Hand Off Key with the Slot and the Tackle and the Quarterback options the Pitch Key

Hand Off the Key. This gives us a few ways to get to the perimeter and stretch the defense. The assignments are very simple:

• Offensive Line Blocks Gun Triple EXCEPT: On G if Covered jump reaches a 3 technique.
• The Onside Tackle – Stud Blocks with Slot (Double Team)
• The Tailback – has Onside Inside Linebacker.
• The Backside Slot is the Pitch Man.

Quarterback Reads. The Quarterback’s first read is FLASH. “8 Between the Slots, throw Ouicks and Hots” Next the OB checks the Inside Linebacker, if ILB turns his shoulders to the sideline and sprints, in other words his numbers disappear, the QB plants his foot in the ground and ducks up inside. With the ILB leaving so quickly there will be no defender in side. (Strategic Flexibility) If the QB sees the Linebackers numbers, he gets on the Tailback’s outside hip and attacks the Pitch Key just as he would in the Gun Tripe like the Stud Option from Exotic sets like Ends and Receivers because the extra end can block the Free Safety.
