Meaningful Stats in Round One of The Playoffs
Here’s my take on Round #1 of The College Football Playoffs.
- Notre Dame 27 – Indiana 17. Notre Dame was playing at home and had won 11 straight. Notre Dame’s Quarterback play was a big difference. Riley Leonard was made for this night. Indiana’s Quarterback wasn’t. Kurtis Rourke got off to a rough start and Indy couldn’t run the ball to help him out. IU scored 2 late TDs but ND was too much for the Hoosiers. The only Meaningful Stat – ND scored 25+ points
- Penn State 38;- SMU 1O – Penn St. Defense dominated the game. The Lions 1st 2 TDs were pick sixs! Penn St. hit the Grand Slam of Meaningful Stats #1 They ScoreNon-Offensive TDs #2 PSU held SMU’s “O” to less than 16 Pts (10). #3 PSU scored +25 (38) & They had a +2 Turnover advantage.
- Texas 38 – Clemson 24 – kudos to Kyle Flood & his O. Line they were the MVPs of the Texas win. The Horns rushed for 292 yards and controlled the clock which helped the UT defense. Clemson fought to the very last whistle. Texas got only one Meaningful Stat scoring 25+ points.(38)
- Ohio St. 42 – Tennessee 17 Tennessee playing Ohio S. without their leading rusher & a passing attack that produce only about a 100 yards is like attacking Darth Vader with a paper clip. Ohio St. played great Defense & an explosive offense. The Will Howard to Jerimiah Smith combo was the key to the Bucks Attack. There was Only one Meaningful Stat- Ohio State scored 25+ points (42)
