Marty Glickman: The Hero Disguised as a Sportscaster

A Thanksgiving Tradition that got lost somewhere between North Avenue & Sanford Blvd. was The Iona Prep vs New Rochelle High School Football game on Thanksgiving Morning at Memorial Field in Mt.Vernon. The place would be packed 10,000 to 12,000 spectators to watch this classic rivalry. Plus the game was always on WPIX TV. The broadcaster was a guy who also did the New York Giants football games. He had a kind of comical style that was completely different. However I was shocked when I discovered the man behind the easy-going humorous announcer. Now it’s time that you discovered Marty Glickman.
